Journey to Pasadena

Two members of our ensemble, Paul Blake & Michelle Fritts, have been accepted into the Band Directors Marching Band as part of the Saluting America’s Band Directors project  (www.banddirectorsalute.org).  This group of band directors from across the continent, 400+ strong, will be marching in the 5 1/2 mile parade on January 1st in Pasadena, CA.  The parade theme is ‘The Magic in Teamwork,’ with Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson as the Grand Marshal.  As educators, they are already aware of the teamwork it takes to create concerts, parades, lesson schedules, ensembles, and all things music related.  This is their chance to share their passion and mission with the nation.  They will fly out and arrive after Christmas to rehearse, march, perform at Band Fest, Float Judging, and present a special performance for the first responders of the California wildfires.  There will also be a jazz band, concert band, and Float Fest pep bands.  We hope you will cheer extra loudly for them on the first of the year.  They know you will continue to support music education and live music - thank you!
